| 3 suspected dynamite fishermen arrested |

HAGONOY, Bulacan -- Three suspected illegal fishemen were nabbed by a joing team of Hagonoy Police Station, BFAR, municipal fisherfolk, CAFGU and the newly created Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council in Bgy. Tibaguin here on Thursday. In a report submitted to Bulacan Police Provincial Office provincial director, Senior Supt. Allen B. Bantolo, by Hagonoy police chief, Supt. Myrna Reyes, the suspects were identified as Elmer Suico, 32, Ferdinand Loreto, 35; and Elpidio Fajardo, 55, all residents of in Bgy. Tibaguin. The operation was a result of reports about the presence of unscrupulous persons dealing selling and supplying filsh allegedly caught in the area through the use of dynamite. Based on the reports, Reyes, Felix Terrado Jr and Romeo Reyes, both BFAR representatives, immediately responded to the scene and confiscated from the suspects at least 100 kilos of assorted species of “sardenelia” and “mugis” otherwise known as Tamban and Banak, respectively. Scientific examination reporst from BFAR , disclosed that the fish samples were found killed or caught with the use of explosives. Charges for violation of Section 88 of Republic Act 8550, otherwise known as “The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998,” will be filed against the suspects. |
